Behind-the-wheel driving lessons are offered for students in Jefferson, Oldham and Bullitt Counties. Each lesson lasts approximately 1.5 hours. We offer a variety of lesson packages:

Yes. Students must have a permit or a driver’s license before scheduling lessons.

You will receive a welcome email from ABC Driving School inviting you so sign into your student account where you can schedule your lessons by selecting “Schedule Sessons.”

Yes, if you purchase a ­­2, 3 or 4 lesson package you can take the road test on your last lesson if you are eligible.  If you want your 2nd, 3rd or 4th lesson to include the road test do not schedule your final lesson; email ABC (use the “contact us” website button) or call us at 502-451-2222 to let us know you want a road test and we will find a date to schedule your road test to coincide with your final lesson.  Once a date and time is agreed upon, ABC will schedule the test for you with the DMV.  **Test appointments can often be very hard to get and occasionally we may have to reschedule your test to another date or time**  Students who receive their full (unrestricted) license may have to find alternative transportation home from the DMV.

Yes. All of our instructors are licensed and certified by the Kentucky State Police. All of our instructors have completed a thorough background check conducted by the Kentucky State Police.

Yes. Our instructors are committed to teaching our students in the most positive and supportive manner possible. We treat each student with respect, recognizing that each student has a unique learning style and background.

No. ABC’s insurance covers the student driver while taking lessons.

Yes. We can either meet you at our ABC office or at a public location, such as a shopping center, somewhere within our service area.

All lessons are given in the ABC training vehicle. Our cars are all late model compact cars outfitted with a dual braking system and are regularly inspected by the Kentucky State Police. 

Students must have their learner’s permit (or driver’s license) and must wear eyeglasses or contact lenses if corrective lenses are required on their permit or license. Students are also discouraged from wearing flip flops, high heels, or heavy boots.

Students need to bring their learner’s permit (or driver’s license from another state or country) and eyeglasses or contact lenses if required. Students who will be receiving their Graduated License will need to bring their driver’s log or note from their parent or guardian stating that student has completed 50 hours daytime and 10 hours nighttime driving. Driving logs can be downloaded from the resources section of the ABC website.

Yes. We do not offer any group lessons. However, in some cases, we will allow siblings to share lessons.

Lessons are conducted rain or shine. However, we will reschedule your lesson if the instructor deems the roads to be unsafe due to conditions such as snow, ice, or extreme rainy conditions.

Yes, in most cases. We issue students a Certificate of Completion on their last lesson. Most insurance companies offer discounts for students who have completed a driver’s training with ABC Driving School. Check with your insurance company to see if they have any specific requirements.

Yes, in most cases, we pick students up at home, school, or work.  Students who live more that 20 miles from the ABC office may have to meet us at the ABC office, the DMV, or at an alternate public location within our service area.

You must have had your permit for at least 180 days if you were under 21 when you got your permit, and for 30 days if you obtained your permit when you were 21 or older. You can find a link to check your eligibility date on our resources page.

We require a minimum of 48-hour notice for cancellations. A $75 a cancellation fee may be charged for last-minute cancellations.  If you must cancel a lesson go to “Cancel Lessons” in your Drivescout student account and then message and/or call the ABC office.
